Coaching practices to develop underwater fly kick performance in swimming training

This study assessed current swimming coaching practices surrounding underwater fly kick. Ten elite coaches completed face-to-face interviews, and 56 an online survey. Coaches use a range of methods both in out the pool to develop key aspects Sixty eight percent reported they do not have access resources that would aid with their ability Results show are considering variables when attempting improve kick, three most important highlighted as kick frequency, symmetry coordination. Coordination is variable presenting greatest difficulties due athlete's physical restrictions individual differences, well proprioception. using variety inform approaches but report coach certification education having lowest influence on methods. Generally, results indicate lack skill acquisition knowledge Reflecting upon coaches’ views allows for further research understanding interventions used aids transfer findings into practice.
